While pregnant with our second son, my husband began working on my studio space. It was a dream I had always envisioned. Lots of bright, beautiful windows, and a blank canvas to bring in all of my precious familles. It is hard to believe we began building it almost 6 years ago!
As most pregnant mamas with a toddler running around, I had no nursery like the one I so carefully prepared for our oldest. When given the choice of whether I wanted a nursery completed or the studio for our newborn session, I immediately said the studio! Our son’s newborn session was the first session done in the studio and I still love looking over those images.
Read on for a few more reasons to help you decide if a studio session in the Jessica Brown Photography natural light studio is the perfect fit for you in Central Arkansas.
I find a majority of my families in the Central Arkansas area who choose to have their newborn sessions photographed in the studio do so for the same reasoning I did: life is extremely busy and in the midst of preparing for baby, the nursery got delayed. I always welcome my families to bring any bassinets, baskets, and sweet heirlooms to add a personal touch to their session.
Natural light session in the Jessica Brown Photography Studio are just a condensed version of my in-home sessions. There is no time spent trying to look at the lighting situation of your home, since we are only in one space. This also allows for a shorter session, which works great for families that may have toddlers. One question that is often asked is if you will receive the same types of images, and the answer is yes! I still concentrate on those candid moments with you and baby and also of your family interacting with baby. Documenting that bond between all of you is always my number one goal of your session.
When you arrive at the studio, everything is ready to go as soon as you change your outfits (yes, there is a dressing area). No need to have your home tidy and straightened for photos. Life with a new baby is a whirlwind and time is precious. It can be difficult to keep up with all that is going on with your family and have your home ready, or maybe you are in the middle of building a home or a remodel. The studio is the perfect place for a homey feel for your images.
Photographing in one location offers more cohesive images. When discussing sessions and planning locations and outfits with my family, one thing I always mention to consider is to think how the images will look on the walls of your home. Natural light studio sessions are bright, airy, and because the light is consistent, which are very important when placing and framing your photos. The studio still gives a timeless feel, while being a bit more modern, unlike most professional photography studios.
I’ve photographed newborn sessions in the studio on the cloudiest and coldest of days and also on the hottest, sunniest days of summer. The studio offers a weather controlled setting that always has beautiful light no matter what is happening outdoors. The white walls and neutral furniture always adds a bit of brightness to your images while always flattering your family and the wardrobe you select. There are a variety of different seating options for natural and casual poses similar to what we would do in your own home.
Whether in the Jessica Brown Photography natural light studio or in your own home, the number one goal of your session is to create images that document this special time in the season of your family. As mentioned in my last post on booking in-home sessions, the most important reason to consider is how you envision your session and also reflect on displaying the images in your home and in an album. Creating images that are timeless, that you will share with your children and grandchildren is always something I consider as your photographer.
